Doctor Visit Part Deux

Today we had our second Doctor appointment. Melissa was once again, for no reason, afraid of the worst. Even to the point where she is avoiding any baby related purchases until we visited the doctor.

Today's visit told us what we wanted to hear, literally. With a little bit of searching, the doctor was able to find the baby's heartbeat, this time beating at about 150 bpm.

Everything is progressing as it should. Melissa's next visit to the doctor will be on her 31st birthday. Our second ultrasound will follow that appointment, this time with the fancy ultrasound machine.

Hearing the heartbeat freed up Melissa's mind, even to the point of visiting the paint aisle at Home Depot to look for potential colors for the Baby's room.

The Reveal, Part 2

The following weekend, Melissa's parents were set to visit. They arrived late Friday night. Despite Melissa having the Flu, she woke up when her parent's arrived. After settling in, Melissa suggested I get them their Valentines day gift. I think Melissa's mom was surprised, thinking why can't this wait until tomorrow. We gave her a framed copy of the ultrasound picture in a "Grandparents" frame. Melissa's mom was ecstatic, to say the least. She was excited to tell everyone, but she would have to wait until morning. I don't think she slept well that night, kind of like a kid on Christmas Eve.

The Reveal, Part 1

The first reveal was to be set for Feburary 6th. We were going to spend the weekend at the Wilderness Resort in the WI Dells with my family. It would be there that we would reveal to my family our little secret. My sister Kim already knew, she knew we were trying, and she was suspicous of Melissa not drinking alcoholic beverages at Christmas. She asked, and we revealed our secret to her at Christmas. She kept quiet, even with my parent's being suspicious. We framed a copy of our ultrasound picture in a "Cousins" frame. My plan was to give the gift to one of my nefews and have my mom help them open it.
It happened as I planned.

Ultrasound 1

After waiting for the weekend, it was time to see what our baby looked like.

Within seconds after starting the ultrasound machine, there it was, on the monitor, our little baby.

Measuring somewhere around 3cm, our little baby was squirming around like a little gummy bear. Using the ultrasound machine, the nurse was able to find the heart beat. Beating at 170bpm, it was easy to see and hear the baby's heart.

Here is our baby...
